Local history can be full of surprises and intrigue. It's also important because it can help with business strategy, political decisions, and connect us with our community — and give us a sense of gratitude when comparing the present to the past.

Maps.fm was cofounded by Wayne Parker and Chris Watkins, initially using the RSS feed to map podcast episodes around the world. Our Advisers were James Cridlin and Evo Terra, both now members of the Podcast Hall of Fame. Realizing we needed a local media partner, Wayne worked in 2025 with Lookout Local to test story maps. He continues to write for Lookout Eugene-Springfield on local history, and pursue the use of maps, games and AI to promote local history stories.
